she's not really my type, but I think you two are forever;

Miraculously, I managed to learn a lot about the game of football this year. (American football that is.) In the beginning, I had absolutely NO clue how the game worked, and now, at the end of the season, I am still pretty much clueless, except that I now know what it means to be SACKED. Am I every guy's dream girl or what?

Statisics show that an average of 6 million American's call out sick, or come into work late the day after the Super Bowl. I won't be one of those people, but I do hope the decrease of sleeping, sober individuals will bode well for my morning commute.

I know I mentioned I would write in this blog every day during 2009, but the truth is that I just can't do that - I can't force it. My blogging ideas usually spark up around 2am when I'm waking up to pee for the umptheenth time, and by the time I wake up, all thoughts are forgotten and it is days before I have any sort of mildly readable creativity to spout out.

Um, go STEELERS?????

I'll drown the urge for permanence and certainty;

I really love living here!

Today's random thought: College.

Apparently, college is supposed to be the best 4 years of your life. It's the 4 years where you "find yourself", by way of hugging the porcelain God each night, puking up SoCo and grenadine after eating a vat of chili fries at your college's local hotspot. It's the time where you "let yourself go", by sleeping with the entire SigmaThetaUnoDos fraternity, catching syphilis and blaming it on your best friend, because you had nothing else better to do for 5 hours while she was studying in her room, and happened to forget to take the sock off the door. College is summer's at mom and dad's beach house in Cape Cod, and Christmas with Grandma and Grandpa, catching up with old friends, and working the 4 hour a day part-time job at your local grocer's freezer - that no matter how many unlicensed illegal immigrants pile into their 1967 Toyota to come and work the graveyard shift, ensuring the stock of toilet paper and enema kits never gets too low, somehow, there is always a spot waiting with your name on it when you come back.

In reality, college is a giant waste of time. That's why I didn't go. I have a ton of friends who went to college, who graduated, and are now no better off than they were before they started. Let's waste 4 years, as well as thousands of dollars to get a cream colored piece of paper in a frame that says "I win at life because I got an "A" in Anthropology." Do you want a fucking medal? Let's see you find a job in that field. You're going to be working a 9-5, barely above the poverty level job, just like the rest of us.

Unless you want to strive to be the world's next McSteamy, or Johnnie Cochran, you're just wasting your time.

the atlantic was born today, and I'll tell you how;

I've been playing the games on stupid pop up banners. Stomp the clown. Swat the fly. Hit the roach with a rolled up magazine. Over the past thirty minutes I have won half a dozen iPods and a few trips to Hollywood in a round of Tyler Durden-esque violence.

I am Jack's inflamed sense of rejection.

And now, I will go off in search of larger things, like dinner. But first....certainly you didn't think you would leave empty handed now did you?

I bring you MOJO, which is the best thing to happen to the Internet since Paris Hilton's sex tape. You download it, then you can take any songs you want from your friends' iTunes.

**You can only take from the first THREE people you add, otherwise you have to pay.**

You're welcome.

you always did prefer the drizzle to the rain;

I've not slept well the past few days. To make matters worse, I've also had some crazy dreams to boot. Dreams about the boyfriend murdering innocent people at local gas stations, filling up their tanks. The worst part is that I'm there with him, and apparently, if I tell anyone, it's off with my head, too. We arrived back to his place with a dead body in the trunk, and he checked his mail. It was full of Easter candy.

Then there was the dream that occurred Monday night, where I was being shipped off to South Africa against my will, to partake in a mass suicide. What gives?!

This morning I came across a link entitled "Six Reasons Why We Have Bad Dreams." Let us delve into these, shall we?

1) Anxiety & Stress - A very mild case. I'm normally always stressed over SOMETHING, so I doubt this reason in particular holds any bearing.

2) Spicy Foods - No argument there. Less hot sauce, more….ketchup?

3) Fat Content of Food - Ahhh, yes. Definitely a winner. It's not something I'm giving up though, and you can't make me.

4) Alcohol - Sparse consumption. It's safe to say this is not a factor.

5) Drugs - My Ibprofen supplier recently moved out of state, so I'm having a difficult time getting my hands on the goods.

6) Illness - All is well in the health department.

Now, what can we conclude from this reasoning? I will now start boozing it up, injecting myself with heroin, avoid cutting the fat off my meat, and drinking habanera juice before bed each night. Problem solved.

I took a taxi from LA to Venus in 1985;

Below you will find what is quite possibly the best minute and fifty-one seconds of my existence.

It is a shame that this song was not included on the soundtrack.

but be careful getting coffee, I think these people wanna shoot us;

Number one activity one should NOT participate in before bed: looking up the sexual predators in your area. Not conducive to a successful night's sleep.

Just a little tidbit, an FYI if you will...

Counting sheep? Sure. Getting a snack? Great! Counting down from 100? It works!

Looking up the rapists in your area - not a good idea.

she wore shisedo red, and we drank tea by her side;

This time of year is just made for people like me: it’s a time for making lists and and a time to set goals. While I tend to get carried away listing things I’d like to change, the real truth is that I usually only succeed by accomplishing half of the list.

That said, here are a few things I’ll happily allocate more time to in 2009:

- eating healthier
- cutting down on procrastination
- saving a little
- taking impromptu trips
- reading more
- seeing more new bands
- taking better care of my skin
- not getting sucked into American Idol 2009

balmy days, sweet sangria;

For what seems like ages now, I have been searching for my dream. I know that your twenties are supposed to be this golden age where you really begin to discover yourself and get your fingers into a bunch of different pies. That particular task has been somewhat difficult for me, because - well, I didn't want to screw it up. I would concoct these ideas about where I was going to go to school and what I would study and the places I'd go and all of the fantastical people I would meet. These plans were eventually scrapped because I would let myself be convinced that it wasn't the right thing to do.

I've decided that I would rather screw up and do the wrong thing than waste my time doing nothing at all. I want to travel, and drink coffee in places I've never been before. I want to see foreign sites. I want to meet people I wouldn't normally have come across.

I suppose I got used to having things and events directed and planned out for me, in some respects. I moved out, I did the stretching-of-the-wings thing already, but sometimes I feel like I should be doing something more. I have yet to discover what that is though.

Brie's top 8 songs of 2008.

Because 10 would have been forced.

(In no particular order…)

08. Madonna feat. Timbaland & Justin Timberlake - "4 Minutes" (I can't help it. The song is catchier than the flu in an infested 3rd grade classroom.)

07. Bon Iver - "For Emma" (It took me the whole of 2008 to discover this album. If you enjoyed Damien Rice's album "O", you will definitely like this.)

06. Adele - "Chasing Pavements" (More of the flu epidemic.)

05. Oasis - "The Shock of the Lightning" (♥♥♥♥)

04. Coldplay - "Violet Hill" (The album was not as great as everyone anticipated, but this song didn't dissapoint.)

03. Dierks Bentley - "Trying to Stop Your Leaving" (This song will always remind me of summer.)

02. Jenny Lewis - "Acid Tongue" (I really love how versatile each of her albums are.)

01. STARS - "A Thread Cut With a Carving Knife" (Words cannot express my love for this song.)

the sun keeps on shooting through pine trees, and the grass stains are wet on your new jeans;

I'm feeling only a bit hungover after last night's festivities. I reserved a New Year's Eve package at the Omni Hotel in downtown Richmond for me and Bryan. By the time I picked him up from work Wednesday afternoon, I could hardly contain the secrecy anymore, so instead of plotting an elaborate plan to blindfold him and get him to our destination unknowingly, I simply told him about it. He was very surprised, which that alone was more than enough to make me happy.

We had a wonderful French dinner, with champagne, and fondue for dessert. I opted for the chicken, and Bryan went for the beef tenderloin. It all seemed quite basic, and I've never had a proper French dinner before, so I don't know exactly what part of the dinner was classified as "French." Perhaps they knew that much French kissing would ensue at the stroke of midnight?

Back in the room after dinner, we watched a marathon of Dog the Bounty Hunter, and sipped on some tasty adult beverages. We fell asleep shortly after 1:30am, both in a drunken stupor. This was truly the most memorable New Year's Eve in all of my 26 years. There is nothing better than spending it with the one person who has your whole heart.
